Amdram.net - The Social Network for Amateur Theatre is recruiting for the following positions:-

Community Moderator

A Community Moderator will be:-

A keen advocate of Amdram.net - The Social Network for Amateur Theatre helping us to actively promote all aspects of amateur theatre.
A contributor to Amdram.net - The Social Network for Amateur Theatre

As a Community Moderator you'll be responsible for:-

Moderating topics, comments, photos and status updates to ensure they meet our community guidelines
Reporting spam attempts as and when they arise

As a Community Moderator you'll get:-

Increased privileges including a cool "badge"
Amazing powers
Commercial Advertiser rights (if you have a commercial company to advertise)
The satisfaction that you're part of something great and you're actively promoting amateur theatre
No pay - Apologies, we're not for profit!

Galleries - An Apology

You may have noticed that we have been encountering numerous problems with the Galleries.

Unfortunately the problem was significant and resulted in us restoring the Galleries section from backup.

In order to perform the restore we had to re-install the Galleries product and this may have lead to the following:-

Changed links to Gallery Images
Missing Comments or Descriptions

We apologise sincerely for the inconvenience this will cause.

If you do have any problems using the Galleries, please let us know and we will investigate further

Amdram.net Launches Mobile Site

We're pleased to confirm that we are now offering better support for mobile devices.

Unfortunately there are still some limitations but we hope to enhance this offering throughout 2012.

All Shook Up

All Shook Up mixes a little but of Shakespeare with a whole lot of 'The King' and guarantees that your entire family will be jumping out of their Blue Suede Shoes. Contrary to what you might expect it is not a biography of Elvis but does feature many of his songs. The action takes place in Small Town USA in the mid fifties, it promises to be an evening of energetic and upbeat entertainment, full of hard driving rhythms, intersperes with some wonderful romantic harmonic melodies.

It is on at The Hexagon, Reading performances start at 19:30 Tuesday - Saturday with a special 50's Party Night on Friday night

The Likes of Us (review)

At a time when factions of the nation’s youth are being condemned for their lawlessness the parents of the cast in this year’s summer musical at The Grove can be justly proud of their off-spring.

Rarely have amateur dramatics been this good. In a flawless performance they rose to the challenge to spend just 10 days preparing from scratch their parts in The Likes of Us, the rarely seen debut production from those rather well known impresarios of English theatre, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The musical, which tells the story of how Dr Thomas Barnardo founded his children’s homes, was knocked out as a schools piece in the mid 1960s and it was, as the show’s narrator, the self-assured James Clark, told the first night audience on Thursday, “what failed to launch the careers of Webber and Rice 46 years ago.”

But the seeds were sown for a style of musical which went on to serve the couple very well – from their very first collaborative song, the catchy crowd-pleaser Going, Going Gone, to tug-on-your-heartstring duets and whole company show-stoppers.

We are constantly reviewing Amdram.net - Amateur Theatre Community to ensure that we offer the best service to our visitors and members. It is with this in mind that we decided to undertake a review of the advertising mechanisms offered on Amdram.net - Amateur Theatre Community.

In conclusion we have determined the following:-

The display of banner advertising no longer aligns with our long term strategy and therefore all banner advertising will cease with immediate effect.
Our Commercial Advertising Subscription remains with plans in place to enhance the benefits offered by this subscription

We believe the outcome of this review of advertising mechanisms presents the best possible outcome for our members and visitors.

Are you an amateur theatre group who thinks theyâ€™ve got what it takes to perform a play on the West End and have it broadcast to the nation?

We are on the hunt to find Britainâ€™s best amateur theatre company, as judged by stars of stage and screen.

The prize is a dream come true: the chance to perform a play on a West End stage, mentored by one of the theatre worldâ€™s great impresarios, a packed audience and the action beamed into millions of homes across the UK.

The competition is open to all amateur theatre companies across the British Isles who have staged at least one production in front of a paying audience prior to 16 May 2011. All you have to do to audition is fill in an application form and upload a short video, no more than 5 minutes long, of your group performing a scene from any one of the audition plays.
