Hatton Operatic Society (HOS) will be staging the classic musical ‘Annie’ from Tuesday 30th October to Saturday 3rd November 2012 (half term week), at The Magna Carta Arts Centre, Thorpe Road, Staines, Surrey, TW18 3HJ. We are looking for young girls to play the roles of Annie and the other orphans. Auditions will be held in a workshop format on Saturday 12th May 2012 between 12pm and 3pm at our rehearsal venue at the Magna Carta School. Rehearsals will take place on Wednesday evenings, starting in late May, with some additional Saturday and Sunday rehearsals as required. Children will not be needed at all rehearsals and a full rehearsal schedule will be published in advance. To comply with licensing restrictions we need to cast two groups’ children who will appear in alternate performances. Children wishing to audition for the title role of Annie should have a playing age of approximately 11 years old, be a strong singer and dancer, and be confident with learning lines and delivering dialogue. There are six named orphans who should have a playing age of 6 to 13 and we will also have a small children’s ensemble. All children should be above the age of 7 and be good singers and dancersHOS prides itself in putting on professional and high quality productions. Our members are all volunteers from the local community, many of whom have vast experience in amateur dramatics. We are also lucky enough to have a crew and creative team who have much experience of working in both amateur and professional theatre. We present two shows a year; a fully staged musical in the autumn and a concert each spring. Previous musicals include “Oliver!”, “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, “The Boyfriend” and “Anything Goes.” Further details of past productions together with a photo gallery can be found at our website on www.hattonoperatic.org. We feel that the production will be a great chance for young talented children in the local community to develop their singing, dancing, and acting skills within an experienced, friendly and enthusiastic drama group. If you have any questions about the audition workshop or production in general please do not hesitate to contact the show’s director, Ashley Jarvest, on 07502 182 336 or at annieinfo@hattonoperatic.org.
