untilBishopstoke Players’ September production this year is based on the much-loved TV comedy, “The Vicar of Dibley”. All your favourite characters from the hugely popular series – Alice, Hugo, Owen, Jim, David and of course Geraldine – will be on stage to bring you an evening of fun and laughter. The ancient old vicar of Dibley has passed on and parishioners are horrified to learn that the Bishop has appointed a woman in his place. As Geraldine battles to win over the sceptical parish council, the villagers (with the exception of influential David Horton) gradually learn to accept her as The Vicar of Dibley. This show brings together some of the best loved moments from the TV series and links them to make a wonderful evening of comedy, culminating in a fairy-tale wedding. Performances are in Bishopstoke Memorial Hall from Thursday 27th to Saturday 29th September 2018 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 (£6 for those aged 16 or under) and are available from www.bishopstokeplayers.uk/buy-tickets or email email@example.com or phone 07871 006551. “The Vicar of Dibley” has been adapted for the stage by Ian Gower and Paul Carpenter from the original TV series by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer. With kind permission of Tiger Aspect Productions. As with all Bishopstoke Players’ productions, proceeds will be donated to the charity Action for Children.
untilFor their May production this year, Bishopstoke Players are revisiting a play they last performed 26 years ago – they enjoyed it so much that they wanted to do it all over again! Peter Ustinov's delightful comedy, “Romanoff and Juliet”, is set in a tiny, mythical country, lying smack on the border between East and West, which is defended by an army of two and a daring General who is constantly playing off one superpower against the other. So, what happens when the son of the Russian ambassador accidentally falls head over heels in love with the daughter of the American ambassador? This charming play cleverly manages to be both a comic spoof of the Cold War and a romantic comedy, with both sides eventually coming to the realisation that international rivalries pale in the face of true love. Performances are in Bishopstoke Memorial Hall from Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th May 2018 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 (£6 for those aged 16 or under) and are available from www.bishopstokeplayers.uk, or email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone (07871) 006551. Like all Bishopstoke Players’ productions, proceeds will be donated to the charity Action For Children.
