Lindisfarne present Alan Bennett's THE HISTORY BOYS from Tues 21st - Sat 25th May 2013 at the Dixon Studio, Palace Theatre. This play won the Oliver award is 2005 and the Broadway Tony award for Best Play in 2006. It also launched the careers of Russell Tovey, James Corden and Samuel Barnett. It tells the story of eight young students studying for their Oxbridge exams, they dote on their general studies teacher Hector and their erstwhile History teacher Mrs Lintott teaches them "the cold hard facts" Then the headmaster recruits a new teacher Mr Irwin to help prepare the boys for the tricky Oxbridge entrance exam and the boys soon discover that their view of world is somewhat jaded. The cast features young actors from Southend, Rochford senior schools and drama students from South East Essex College. The play contains adult humour and some coarse language.
